We Serve...

children & youth with developmental disabilities and/or special health care needs and their families across the life span through the planning, promoting and provision of services and supports that aide them in becoming full participants in their communities and beyond.
Who are Children & Youth with Developmental Disabilities?
According to the Department of Health and Human Services: Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, developmental disabilities are a diverse group of severe chronic conditions that are due to mental and/or physical impairments.  Children and youth with developmental disabilities have problems with major life activities such as language, mobility. learning, self-help, and independent living
Who are Children & Youth with Special Health Care Needs?

According to the Maternal and Child Health Bureau, children and youth with special health care needs (CYSHCN), are those who have or are at an increased risk for a chronic physical, developmental, behavioral, or emotional condition and who also requires health and related services of a type or amount beyond that required by children generally.

The definitions stated above are to be inclusive of children, youth, and young adults across the life-span with chronic illnesses, behavioral and mental health disorders, various developmental disabilities as well as physical and sensory disabilities.  By no means is it to be based on simply upon diagnosis, but instead it must be based upon the child or young adults individual need for services and supports.

We also service the typically peers of children & youth with developmental disabilities and/or special health care needs.

Why we do this?

We feel it is beneficial for "all" to include this subgroup in our programming due to one singular important factor, we "all" must co-exist in this world together. Isn't it therefore logical for us to foster an inclusive environment from the start, thus leading by example?  We each have so much to learn from one another. It is our hope that one day we will each intuitively value one another for our uniqueness and shared passions, thus producing a society that affords equal rights and opportunities to all.
